Take K-Drama Fashion Cues While Watching Them

5 minute read

Over the past few years, Korean dramas or K-dramas for short have become increasingly more popular than ever. While K-dramas are liked and adored by many for the swoon-worthy characters and riveting storylines, what usually goes unnoticed is the fashion aspect of the show. Another thing K-dramas are most known for is the characters’ impeccable styling. Even though the show is made by the stars, direction, plot and screenplay, the style plays an integral part of selling the story.

From My Love From The Stars to Hotel Del Luna, it's time to draw some k-drama fashion inspiration from some of our favourite Club 21 brands featured in K-dramas that should be on your radar. Read on for more.

My Love From The Stars

My Love from The Stars is the heartbreaking love story of Do Min Joon, an immortal alien portrayed by Kim Soo Hyun and a spunky, seemingly self-absorbed actress struggling with her career and many anti-fans Cheon Song Yi, portrayed by Jun Ji Hyun.

Portraying one of Korea top stars, actress Jun Ji Hyun can be seen wearing an endless array of designer outfits and jewellery in the show. From Balmain to Giuseppe Zanotti , these are some of Jun Ji Hyun's most noteworthy designer looks in the show.

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay

Starring Kim Soo Hyun, a psychiatric ward nurse and Seo Ye Ji, a famous children’s book author, this show comes with an inspiring message on mental health. Besides the interesting and unique plot, Seo Ye Ji’s stunning and stylish outfits is another reason why we were glued to the series.

Not only did Seo Ye Ji’s character’s array of dresses steal the show, her stunning shoe collection was in the spotlight as well. Case in point: this pair of  Black Odile High Heel Sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti, as seen in episode 12. (Image via Tatlerasia)

True Beauty

A romantic-comedy, this series is about a high school girl Lim Joo Gyung (played by Moon Ga Young) who goes to great lengths to never be caught without makeup on and only Lee Su Ho (played by Cha Eun Woo) has seen her bare face. Then comes along Han Seo Joon (played by Hwang in Yeop), a cool bad but actually kind, who eventually gets involved in a long triangle with Joo Gyung.

As Lee Su Ho’s father is the CEO of a record label, you can definitely expect him to be wearing countless designer clothes in the series.

Lastly, how can we ever forget Han Seo Jun who stole the show and our hearts, too. While his character doesn’t appear to be poor, he was pictured in various different Juun. J bomber jackets, just like this one. (Image via TeenVogue)

Hotel Del Luna

If you haven’t watched this series, we highly recommend that you watch it, as you can draw several k-drama fashion cues from this show. In this supernatural drama series, IU plays the beautiful but greedy Jang Man Wol, the CEO of Hotel Del Luna. Stuck in the hotel for over a millennium, she runs the hotel alongside assistant manager Goo Chan Seong (played by Yeo Jun Goo). Together, they help ghosts who have unresolved issues in the human world.

Other than the riveting plot, fashionistas will take delight in seeing IU’s wardrobe. Below, we spotted all of the pieces from designers at Club 21, where you can draw some k-drama fashion cues from.
